Flying the Way Flying Used to Be

We have now been on 3 flights operated by Cathay Pacific and let me tell you, flying on an Asian airline, especially inside of Asia, is the way to go.

We arrived at the airport this morning in Taipei, checked in, and went directly to the security check point. There were no lines. No bins for your laptop, shoes, coat, or liquids. Just stick your whole bag through the x-ray and you are done. I even went through the medal detector with some change in my pocket and my belt on.

The flight from Taipei to Hong Kong is a short 1 hour and 48 minutes, but when we boarded the plane and everyone was seated the flight attendants came through the cabin with both pillows and blankets. There were enough for everyone to have one and each one was individually wrapped in plastic...so you know it’s clean. Not only did they give us sleeping aids, but also free headsets to watch the 58 channels of free TV. Remember, this is coach.

I woke up about half an hour into the flight and was served a hot pork sandwich with a side of fruit and a whole can of Coke. They even gave me a free wet wipe to clean my hands before I ate.

I only wish the 50 flights I will be taking next year for work could be like this one.

God bless Cathay Pacific and damn the terrorists who have made a bag of M&Ms $3 on AA.

Are you sure it was pork? Your bravery on the eating front is cause for concern! Hope you get from Hong Kong to Hanoi as easily. Love, Mom (B)

Kinda makes our airlines seem paranoid, as well as insensitive, except, of course, for Southwest.

Speaking of the way things used to be...Can you buy xenon cheaply in Asia. I just paid 328 dollars (not bot) to have one headlight replaced. God Bless America.
